Pre-Employment Transition Services (Pre-ETS)

What’s Next? Life After High School

In partnership with The Maryland Division of Rehabilitation Services (DORS), The Outcomes Services provides Pre-Employment Transitioning Services to high school students. These services include job exploration counseling, work-based learning experiences, experiences outside of the traditional school setting, and/or internships. It also includes workplace readiness training to develop social skills and independent living, and instruction in self-advocacy.


RECOGNIZE YOUR POTENTIAL: LIFT-OFF JOB EXPLORATION SERVICES (JES)

Explore career options post-high school. Students will learn about the local job market, in-demand industries and occupations, non-traditional employment options, and identify career pathways and requirements to pursue employment. A typical JES would include the following elements: Interest Inventories, Worker Characteristics, ABC’s of Skills, Labor Market Exploration, and Mapping your Future.

Ages: 17-21
Funding: Open to students funded by Maryland DORS or private pay
Program Logistics: 3-5 sessions 8-10 hours


WHAT’S NEXT? LIFE AFTER HIGH SCHOOL (LAHS)

Workforce development for high school juniors and seniors to prepare for work or post-secondary education. Students explore the following: Interest assessments, job preparation, social skills training, self-advocacy, employer expectations, job searching, workplace readiness, transition services, executive functioning skills, time management, employer site visits, and counseling on opportunities for in-transition or post-secondary education.

Ages: For high school juniors and senior (age 21 and under).
Funding: 
DORS-funded for Maryland students. $111 per session for DC and VA students. Open to students from all area schools. Students will be screened for eligibility.
Program Logistics: 12-week sessions, once per week. Call for dates.


WORKPLACE SUCCESS PROGRAM

TLC’s Outcomes Service, in partnership with a local retailer, is offering a training and hands-on experience for young adults with disabilities ready to learn about the world of work. Outcomes’ professional employment specialists will support the growth and learning of work skills that are essential to workplace success. Sessions include working at a store in the community to apply, practice, and improve job skills learned at Outcomes.

Ages: For high school juniors and seniors (age 21 and under).
Funding: DORS-funded for Maryland students. Private pay option is available.
Program Logistics: 4-week sessions, Mondays through Thursdays, 9 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. Call for dates.


Work-Based Learning Experience (WBLE)

Gain valuable workplace experience in a variety of settings customized to your interests and preferences.

Ages: For high school juniors and senior (age 21 and under).
Funding: DORS-funded for Maryland students. Open to students from all area schools. Students will be screened for eligibility.
Program Logistics: 6-8 week internship experience, once per week. Call for dates.
