TLC CELEBRATES OCCUPATIONAL THERAPY MONTH

Rockville, MD, March 26, 2003 The Treatment and Learning Centers, a non-profit organization, which helps children and adults with a wide range of disabilities, today announced that they would be hosting events throughout the month of April to celebrate Occupational Therapy month. The Occupational Therapy Department at TLC provides evaluation and therapy for children of all ages with sensory integration, sensory modulation, fine motor and gross motor delays in individual and group sessions.

TLC will kick off the month with a seminar on April 8th, Sensory Integration in the Preschool Classroom, by Mary Way O.T.D, OTR/L, Director of Occupational/Physical Therapy at TLC. The seminar is from 6:30 8:30 pm and the cost is $25.00. Free screenings for children ages 3-8 will be offered on April 10th by appointment only. A free workshop, Making Sense of Sensory Integration, will be offered on April 24th from 1:00 2:00 pm by Mary Way followed by an Open House from 2:00 4:00 pm. Reservations are required for these events due to limited appointments and seating. For more information, please contact Julie Bobrow at 301-424-5200 ext. 147.

The newest addition in occupational therapy equipment at TLC is a climbing wall, which will be introduced into therapy session in April. This equipment was a gift through a generous donation by a member of TLC's Board of Trustees. The climbing wall will provide excellent therapeutic benefits in the areas of strength and coordination, says Richard Pavlin, executive director at TLC. We feel very fortunate to have such tremendous support from our board members. This gift, like so many others, adds an element of fun and excitement to a therapeutic session.

TLCs occupational therapists hold Masters Degrees, are certified by the National Board of Certification for Occupational Therapists, are licensed by the State of Maryland and many are members of the American Occupational Therapy Association.
