READING JOURNAL HOMEWORK

Homework due on Monday, Sept. 13, 2010

I hope that the first week of Reading Journal homework was completed successfully.  I am also hopeful that students did not feel stressed about this homework assignment!  I will be using a rubric (attached as a link) to grade this, and every week's, homework assignment.  If you need to review the procedure for Reading Journal homework, please read the "Parent Letter" along with several other useful "homework handouts" included as links at the end of this homework posting. 

Reading homework for this entire year will remain consistent:  completing the "Reading Journal" assignment. 

READING JOURNAL HOMEWORK:  (This assignment is also included as a link at the end of this homework posting.)

Each student needs to do the following:

1.)  Read at least three days a week for a cumulative total (for all three days) of at least 60 minutes (one hour). 

2.)  The following information needs to be written (or typed and inserted) in the spiral-bound "Reading Journal" notebook provided for each student.        

a.  After each of the 3 time periods of reading, an entry with the date along with the minutes and pages read should be noted. 

b.  In addition, on one of those three days, a written response based on the handout "Responses for Reading Journals" needs to be completed. 

3.)  Each Monday, or the first day of the school week, I will collect, make written comments, grade, and return the completed READING JOURNAL.
